A “Michelin Star” Is Born!

Select Contract Furniture are delighted and honoured to learn that no fewer than four of their valued restaurant clients have been awarded a prestigious Michelin Star, joining a select band of esteemed establishments throughout the UK.

The coveted accolade which is awarded for exceptional dining experience was established as far back as 1926 by innovative French brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin.

Inclusion in the Michelin Guide is testament to owners Graeme Cheevers of Unalome in Glasgow and also Entrepreneur of the Year Stefano Pieracinni who gained further recognition for Rico’s Restaurant and The Broughton, both in Edinburgh and Seafood Ristorante in St Andrews.

Select Contract Furniture proudly worked alongside both of the above worthy recipients Graeme and Stefano and their designated design teams in the original creation of all the restaurant interiors.

Glasgow South Siders New Local Bar and Restaurant

Glasgow south siders can now boast a fantastic new local bar and restaurant in the form of Velvet Sparrow, which includes an extensive range of home cooking delights plus an amazing selection of artisan beers.

Beautifully decorated, the bar itself features a superb hand painted colourful wall mural of a 'velvet sparrow'.

Select were commissioned to carry out the full internal renovation.

Shown below is the “before and after” section of fixed seating on the popular mezzanine area of the restaurant, just part of the stunning transformation of this popular neighbourhood establishment.

Also included within the upgrade and visible above the fixed seating, is the exquisite Menagerie of Extinct Animals wide-with wall covering which includes an embossed velvet structure.

Contemporary Comfort by Select Contract Furniture endorsed by Alex Polizzi

One of Scotland’s leading hotel and restaurant furniture specialists were hand-picked to take part in the popular TV makeover show. Select Contract Furniture had already established a great reputation north of the border thanks to their work with Blythswood Square, Hotel Indigo Glasgow, Dunstane House Hotel Edinburgh, Ranald Hotel Oban, Duisdale Hotel Isle of Skye and many others.

However, the request from Channel 5’s hit show Hotel Inspector came as a major surprise to the East Kilbride-based firm. Select were asked to provide the bedroom furniture for a televised makeover of the 29-room Meudon Hotel at Bream Cove on the Cornish coast.

Company director, Jeff Taylor, said: “We have been well established and successful in Scotland for many years, however, we didn’t realize our reputation had spread so far south. Despite the huge distance between our base and the hotel in the programme we were delighted to work with Channel 5 and to building a relationship with them.”

Select were nominated by the show’s presenter, renowned hotelier Alex Polizzi of the Forte family fame. The hotel, which boasts 8.5 acres of spectacular sub-tropical gardens and a private beach, had approached Alex Polizzi as it was in need of expert help to overcome difficult trading conditions. The end result was voted a great success and the hotel has since made massive strides in its quest to return to its former glory.

Added Jeff: “As part of the agreement we were sworn to secrecy and couldn’t discuss our involvement until after the show had been aired. Now that has happened we are free to talk about our role.”

Select are now recognised major suppliers to hotels and restaurants nationwide.

Select Contract Furniture Host Successful Hospitality Designers’ Event

The recent event hosted in Select Contract Furniture’s dedicated hospitality furniture showroom in East Kilbride, was voted a resounding success by all in attendance.

There were complimentary nibbles throughout the day, networking opportunities and an industry talk with CPD accreditation by Carmel Satterthwaite, Sales & Marketing Director of Panaz fabrics.

Also in attendance showcasing at the open day for the industry’s elite interior designers were Egger, Vescom and Pronto Ceramics.

An overnight stay for 2 including breakfast, dinner and even a relaxing massage at the stunning One Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow’s bustling west end plus a magnum bottle of the acclaimed Egger Austrian brew were gratefully received by the raffle winners on the day.

Our refurbishment of the 12 bedrooms in the Stair Arms Hotel has proved to be a big hit with the guests.

Management and staff are equally enthusiastic about the stunning results. Consequently, we are now updating the hotel’s public areas. This includes reception, lounge, dining room, a new coffee lounge and bar area.

We’re delighted to be working with this historic family-owned and managed establishment in Pathhead, Midlothian. It is situated on the A68, the main Edinburgh to the Scottish Borders route.

Select were chosen to refurbish all 12 bedrooms and, as you can see from the reaction above, the transformation was breathtaking! We consulted closely with the Ramsay family in the selection of all the case goods furniture which was manufactured in a tasteful grey oak finish.

Old carpets were replaced by plank effect LVT flooring. The new Hotel Executive beds come with a deep divan base upholstered in faux leather for easy cleaning and blend in with the room decor.

The Super King beds are manufactured with a zip and link facility which allows them to be split into two separate single beds. They are tastefully complemented with coordinating scatter cushions and a bed throw.

The padded headboard, complete with a bedside unit on each side, has a grey oak finish to match the room’s other elements. Sculptured black out velvet curtains hang from every window.

Each room is furnished with a two-door wardrobe, armchair and a dressing table which incorporates a pull-out tea tray. The ceiling pendant and matching bedside lamps were selected to further enhance the décor scheme.

Select supplied everything you can see in the picture above, including the wallpaper. The refurbishment was overseen by Select's own highly-trained personnel and the installation was completed with the minimum of fuss. This allowed this busy and popular hotel to continue working as normal while the work was being carried out. The images above show one of the rooms before and after the process.

Select Delighted by Fishers contract

We are delighted to have been chosen to help refurbish one of Scotland’s most iconic hotels.

Fishers Hotel in Pitlochry, which opened in 1830, was badly damaged by a fire which broke out in the early hours of New Year’s Day this year.

It is now undergoing a £2m repair project which will lead to the creation of 30 new rooms, bringing the total to 140, and a new 150-cover restaurant.

Select Contract Furniture will be supplying all the bedroom furniture including curtains, soft furnishings, bedside cabinets, chests of drawers, dressing tables, robes and chairs.

The first 12 rooms will be ready to take delivery of the new furniture within the next three months.

Over several years, Select have worked with many of the most prestigious hotels in the country, including Glasgow’s Blythswood Hotel, Edinburgh’s Dunstane Hotel and the Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew.

This contract with Fishers is yet another feather in our cap and great news for our East Kilbride workforce. We are proud to play a part in this exciting project.
